at the fishin' hole

noah's fishy face to match the fishy face he "caught" {and i use the word 'caught' loosely}
we spent the afternoon yesterday at deana rose. here we are fishing with the henry family.

and noah "caught" his first fish. actually, he held the pole and was digging it into the sand on the bottom and by happenstance krysta was near him and saw the bobber go up and down. she tugged on it and pulled it out. and that brings us to how we got to noah's said "catch of the day." SO, in a round-about-way, he did in fact catch this fish. sort-of.
not such a fan of touching this catch though, and neither was his mom. however, brian was kind enough to rub said catch on my hand and arm. i was sure to thank him a lot, and i am sure said catch also enjoyed it. enjoyed it so much that he flopped his way back to the water before we could snap his picture.

milk.....it does a body good

a special thanks goes out to daddy for this one. and i'll have you know there was only 2 times that milk was poured too fast by him, thus resulting in a "milk in the nose" situation. really- isn't 2 and a half a bit early to learn this??? thank goodness no one else in our family drinks whole milk........

beach bag....or baby carrier?

it's all relative at our house. some things are used in ways they were clearly not intended to be used. for instance, often the same beach bag that i use to carry towels, sunscreen and snacks-a-plenty, is used for child carrying by daddy. and ironically, they seem to enjoy it. nobody can play like daddy can play......

brown bear, brown bear

anyone remember this fuzzy friend? {august 2008 pics}
it's boyd, our very own 'brown bear'
and noah's favorite cuddle friend
here's how i find noah and boyd most afternoons at nap time. we read one round of brown bear together, and then he reads however many he can to his 'brown bear', a.k.a. boyd.

and at some point, he and boyd get really tired and they happily fall asleep. {sigh} i just love him more than words......

thomas the train {picture overload}

don't say i didn't warn you. there are a lot o' pics! grandma and grandpa h. visited us for the whole weekend and we headed up to see the big train on saturday. did you know noah likes trains? i just thought i would remind you, in case you forgot. i know we sometimes do {or not ever!}. anyway, it was a fun day and we had a tired little boy after. all in all i think he enjoyed it, but may have been a bit overwhelmed with all the thomas "to-do's" that were there. i mean story time, movie time, train tables, thomas tats, bounce house and a small petting farm is a lot for a 2-year old to take in! so we started by watching the big train come in to the station. mistake #1- do not watch thomas when you are not going to immediately get on for your turn. this does not make a 2 year old happy.....the concept of time- not quite there.

mistake #2- do not tell your 2 year old that the train will go "fast like gordon"....also not happy about that. {for the record- i may have been able to push the train faster.....could have used a little breeze}
this little champ however thought it was buckets of fun!
ultimately where he ended up for much of the ride: with grandpa
the end. ride is all over. for weeks now every time we pass a train- "momma, i go ride on THAT train, yes, o.k.?"
the best group shot i have- noah- not so into it. mistake #3- should have taken this one earlier
update: i stand corrected as i was recently informed- this gentleman's name is actually
'sir topham hatt'. my sincerest apologies to the director of the railway
meeting sir top-m-hat {may have to look that one up} this is a huge improvement from last year. wouldn't even look at the gentleman. he's very non-threatening, right?
this gal learned some new tricks with her 'kiki' while her brother played on the tracks

and the tattoo parlor. literally had to DRAG him out of the train track tent {yep.....mistake #4- going to the tracks FIRST} to get here.
here i think maybe he's starting to question why exactly i made him leave the train track tent.

watching the trains with grandma

all in all a great time was had by everyone- and really- he still talks about it so all those mistakes must not have been too traumatizing!
